Interventional Regenerative Orthopedic Medicine Certification (IROM-C)

If you’re an AAOM member and looking for ways to boost your learning and credentials in the orthopedic regenerative medicine field, Interventional Regenerative Orthopedic Medicine Certification (IROM-C) is just what you need.
IROM Certification establishes minimum competency for physicians in the field of regenerative orthopedic medicine.
Preparation and passing the AAOM IROM-C helps standardize the requirements related to various forms of treatment dealing with regenerative orthopedic medicine.
Completion of IROM-C provides educational and professional opportunities for certified individuals.
IROM-C awardees are awarded the Fellow of the AAOM title.
Certification Steps
IROM Certification consists of the candidate successfully completing three steps, in this order:
Participation in an AAOM-sponsored cadaveric workshop
Passing a written exam
Participation and passing a practical exam at an international mission workshop
Certification Requirements
IROM-C candidates must:
Be a licensed physician who has graduated from an accredited osteopathic or medical college or university, and is legally licensed to practice medicine or surgery, and who has graduated from an ACGME accredited residency.
Be an active dues-paying member of AAOM
Have a current and active license as a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) in the state/country of practice.
Submit the application and pay the applicable fees
Submit by email to info@aaomed.org a copy of your current active State license
Be approved by the AAOM Certification Committee
Examination Details
In addition to attending a cadaveric workshop, the following must be successfully accomplished:
1. A 100-question written examination ($400.00 US$) is offered twice annually. Testing is available at the AAOM Annual Conference. Candidates must achieve a minimum passing score of 70% on the written certification examination in order to progress to the practical portion of the program. Candidates are allowed three hours (international language candidates are allowed three and one-half hours) to complete the exam. At present the written examination includes the following topic breakdown:

Assessment / Diagnosis
Philosophy / Definitions
Safety / Solutions
Treatments
2. The practical test ($500.00 US$) is offered only at an international workshop and mission in the Fall of each year. This portion of the exam evidences applied knowledge and skill to two body parts. This portion is proctored by two IROM-C physicians and is evaluated with a Pass / Fail basis.
