Seeking nominations for AAOM Board of Directors

Deadline: January 15, 2025

Show your commitment to the value of the American Academy / Association of Orthopedic Medicine (AAOM) and help to shape its future! You may nominate yourself or a committed AAOM colleague. This year we will elect three Board Members-at-large. Nominating candidates for office is a valuable service to the association and your thoughtful participation in this process is greatly appreciated.

Board Members

Any dues-paying Active member may serve on the AAOM Board. Board Members serve two-year terms, beginning April 5, 2025 at the annual conference. Each Board member regularly participates in the work of the Board through attendance at monthly Board meetings, active participation in the work of the Board, ongoing email communications, liaising with committees, and participating in AAOM education and training events. The Board follows the Bylaws of the organization.

Requirements for All Candidates

When reviewing nominations for candidates, the Nominations Committee considers the following information:

  • Individuals who have been members of AAOM for a minimum of three years.

  • The individual's previous service to AAOM and participation in AAOM events.

  • The individual's contributions and service to the orthopedic regenerative medicine profession in other ways.

  • The individual's availability and accessibility (see below).

  • For candidates for the position of President-Elect, prior service on the Board is preferred.

Proposed candidates must agree to be fully available for Board work during their term. More specifically, each candidate will be asked to sign a letter of agreement stipulating his/her/their:

  • Availability and willingness to attend monthly Board meetings.

  • Availability and willingness to travel on behalf of AAOM, domestically and internationally.

  • Availability and accessibility by phone for periodic Board conference calls during the two-year term and other business related to governance. Board meetings are held at 8:00 PM ET the third Wednesday of every month with the exception of the in-person Board meeting held in conjunction with the annual scientific conference and hands-on workshops.

  • Agreement to abide by AAOM Bylaws related to responsibilities of the Board member.

Nominees should also have the following skill sets:

  • Proven leadership ability

  • Team (Board) management

  • Detail oriented

  • Conflict resolution

  • Consensus building

  • Public speaking

Think broadly and consider candidates both within the United States and around the world. All nominations should be sent by submitting the online application below. Submissions by email to members of the Nominating Committee, Board of Directors, or employees will not be accepted.

Submit COMPLETED applications by this online application on or before January 31, 2025 by 11:59 pm EST.

Bylaws

The bylaws require the Nominations Committee, with Board approval, to submit to the membership names of candidates for open positions. There is no guarantee that a nominee will be placed on the ballot. Reminder: If you are nominating someone, please obtain the nominee's permission.
